The Process

Finding yourself the perfect wedding cake can be daunting, so we specialise in turning your thoughts into a design that perfectly captures you as a couple, ready to take your step forward into the future together. From elegant to alternative, no cake idea is too big or too small, and David loves to find a unique angle to create an exquisite cake bursting with individuality. We are here to help guide you through the process and make your journey with us special. We supply cakes far and wide, so if you aren’t located near our lovely little town of Bradford-on-Avon, don’t fear!

To get started, you can either pop into our shop in Bradford-on-Avon or email us on info@thecakearchitect.co.uk – we love hearing from you!

Flavours

We pride ourselves on our vast range of flavours, from classic to sweet, zesty to boozy, you’ll be sure to find a flavour or five that tickle your taste buds. The hardest decision will be which flavours make it into your cake! We are always experimenting with flavours and if you have an idea that currently isn’t on our list, let us know and we can make you up a taster!

Consultation

When you’re ready, we will invite you to one of our private consultations at the shop. David will spend this time learning more about you as a couple and your ideas: You can come along with a fully developed idea, a piece of ribbon or a completely blank canvas, David will help you piece everything together to create your unique wedding cake. You can then sit back and enjoy some yummy taster cakes of your choice!

Your Design and Quote

Keep an eye on your inbox, as you’ll find your design and quote with you within 5 working days. David spends time sketching up your final design and calculating your quote, taking in everything discussed at your consultation. We will then hold your wedding date for one week while we help you with any questions you may have, then we ask for a 50% booking fee to secure your date.

Alterations

We know that wedding plans develop and develop right up until the big day: colour schemes change, themes pop up and décor brings the venue to life, so we like to work with you on any changes you may like to make to your wedding cake up to a month before your wedding date. We then ask for the final balance a month before the wedding, ready for us to make all the beautiful intricacies that will feature on your cake.

Your Wedding Day

On the week of your wedding day we will be in full swing baking and decorating your beautiful wedding cake. Leave everything cake related to us: We will hand deliver your cake to the venue, where we will assemble it to perfection, ready for you to enjoy it!

Some of our couples

We love to see photos from your big day! From start to finish, the one moment we wish that we could see is when you cut your cake. Here are a few of the
wedding cakes we’ve made and the amazing couples that we made them for!

Hannah and Jonathan

Set up in the stunning Westminster School in London, Hannah and Jonathan’s three-tier wedding cake combined classical details with modern touches. A mixture of gold leaf details and a handmade statement peony sugar flower make this elegant wedding cake stand out. Beautiful photo from Married to my Camera.

“Thank you so much for our delicious and beautiful cake!  Not only did it look amazing, but it also tasted fantastic. It was so good that there was hardly any left at all.”

Jen and Alex

One of the first wedding cakes we made was for Jen and Alex who got married at Widbrook Grange, just down the road from our shop in Bradford-on-Avon. Their three-tier square wedding cake was simply decorated with white sugarpaste and a spray of vibrant sugar rose leaves. Ryan Goold Photography captured these great photos, including the bride and groom cutting their cake with a sword!

Tamzin and Martin

Tamzin and Martin celebrated their wedding day at Larmer Tree Gardens, famed for the peacocks that roam the grounds and steal the canapes. Naturally, their three-tier ombre buttercream cake was designed around the peacock them. It features a stunning handmade open peony sugar flower complimented by real peacock feathers.

“It was the most beautiful of cakes, we loved the colours & the textures – I must admit the ginger layer was definitely my favourite!”

Evie and Henry

Evie and Henry’s beautiful three-tier semi-naked cake was the perfect design to suit the rustic yet elegant Watermill at Priston Mill. Their cake was adorned with fresh flowers and foliage from The Painted Flower in Bath and photographed by Oxi Photography.

“We can’t thank you enough for your beautiful and delicious cake! We even got to eat some on the night and it was totally wonderful.”

Esther and David

Of course, when The Cake Architect got married, David had to go all out! The cake stood over a metre tall and combined bright sugar flowers, fairy lights, gold leaf and a sculpted chocolate tree holding up the top two tiers. The cake was designed around the woods where David proposed to Esther and complimented the barn venue of Folly Farm perfectly. As if a cake to feed 200 people wasn’t enough, the team at The Cake Architect also made an entire dessert table of macarons, meringues, profiteroles, cheesecake, sticky toffee pudding and doughnuts!

Set up at Brympton House, this cake was decorated with fresh flowers from Stems of Somerset and photographed by How Photography.
