We’ve been a bit quiet on the blog front but we thought it was about time to let you know what we’ve been up to since the world turned upside down…
Right at the beginning of lockdown we managed to stay open for a short while to keep Bradford on Avon in cake and eggs! All of our free range eggs come from Rupert’s Fancy Fowls and nobody had told the chickens about lockdown, so with lots of restaurants closing their doors, Rupert needed a new outlet. Whilst we have always sold a few boxes of his eggs from the shop, with supermarket supplies drying up, demand really took off – eggs and cupcakes were flying out of the door!
Then came March and we had to make the painful decision to close the shop as part of the global effort to beat coronavirus.
But we have a business to keep afloat and customers hungry for cake, so it wasn’t long before David devised a way to keep going.
First was the local cupcake delivery run – hand sanitiser at the ready! Despite lockdown, birthdays were still happening!
Next came cake by post – yup – the Cake Architect went nationwide! A box full of deliciousness through your letterbox – brownies, biscuits and our brand new cakesicles (think Magnum but with cake inside). So even if you couldn’t visit your family, you could still send them love in cake form.
